Rosie Louisa KlemmSeptember 11, 1928 - March 16, 2012

It is with saddened hearts that the family of Rosie Louisa (nee Taphorn) Klemm (Uliski) of Humboldt, SK, announces her death on Friday, March 16, 2012, at Humboldt District Hospital. She was 83 years of age. Rosie, one of ten children, was born on September 11, 1928, to George and Agatha (nee Richels) Taphorn at home on their farm southwest of St. Gregor. She attended Sjolie Rural School, just a mile north of the family farm. In 1940, the Taphorn family relocated to a farm in the St. Gertrude district, a few miles northwest of their original homestead. On October 20, 1947, Rosie married Karl Klemm in Sinnett, SK. They began their life together on a farm near St. Gertrude. While living there, two sons were born to them. In 1965, Rosie and Karl bought a farm five miles south of Tuffnell, SK. As well as being a busy homemaker, Rosie helped Karl on the farm, planted and harvested a garden each year, and spent many hours preserving the produce. Rosie's greatest source of pride and joy was the addition of grandchildren and, eventually, great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and had a special place in her heart for each one of them. Rosie and Karl farmed until 1985, when they retired and moved into Tuffnell. Karl passed away in October 1989. Rosie continued to live in their home and kept busy with various activities at the Tuffnell Community Hall and the Tuffnell Curling Rink, often helping with fund raising events, and going on outings with the Tuffnell Ladies Group. In the summer of 1992, Rosie moved to Humboldt. She loved going for coffee, and playing bingo and cards. In the summer of 2002, Rosie met Levern "Jack" Uliski. They became good friends and, as a couple, took part in many social activities, including Folk Fest, casino trips, and bowling tournaments. Rosie and Jack's special relationship culminated in their marriage on June 16, 2008, in Humboldt. They were very happy together, and enjoyed the companionship they provided for each other. Sadly, however, Rosie's health began to fail. During the last year-and-a-half, as her mobility steadily declined, she became quite dependant on Jack to help her; devotedly, he was at her side each day. A gentle, soft-spoken, thoughtful and loving person, Rosie will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Rosie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of almost four years, Leverne "Jack" Uliski of Humboldt; her two sons and their spouses: Joe (Annette) Klemm and Dwayne (Myrna) Klemm, all of Yorkton, SK; four grandchildren: Lesley, Irvin (Felicia), Tim, and Tina (Dennis); eight great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother: Elizabeth "Liz" Pratchler of Humboldt; Emma (Les) Bush of Edmonton, AB; and Joseph "Joe" (Marge) Taphorn of White Rock, BC; sisters-in-law: Elsie Taphorn (Al Brown) of Armstrong, BC; and Janie Taphorn of Humboldt; brother-in-law, Lionel "Curly" Fladager of Armstrong, BC; in-laws of the Uliski family: Alfred (Fran) Uliski of Dauphin, MB; Martha (Alfred) Richard of Victoria, BC; Mildred (Gordon) King of Dundurn, SK; Marianne (Al) Frerichs of St. Gregor; Arthur (Marilyn) Uliski of Humboldt; and Dolores (Allan) Jaeb of Middle Lake, SK; and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and Germany. She was predeceased by her first husband, Karl Klemm (1989); father, George Taphorn (1959); mother, Agatha (nee Richels) Taphorn (1965); three sisters and three brothers: Frances Taphorn (in infancy), George Taphorn Jr. (1965), Agnes Angeli (1987), Walter "Wally" Taphorn (1997), Catherine "Kay" Fladager (2003), and John Taphorn (2011); brother-in-law, Joseph "Joe" Angeli (1996); and by sister-in-law, Irene Taphorn (2007). The Funeral Service for Rosie was held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, on Friday, March 23, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Al Hingley. The crossbearer was Lesley Manovich and the urnbearer was Irvin Manovich. Interment will take place at St. Gertrude R.C. Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation General Equipment Fund, the St. Gertrude R.C. Cemetery Fund or the Royal Canadian Legion.
