Servais Joseph Marie CrozonFebruary 12, 1932 - June 29, 2012
Servais Joseph Marie Crozon of Naicam, SK, age 80, passed from this life suddenly on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. He was born in the Kermaria District on February 12, 1932, to Joseph and Yvonne (nee Gueguen) Crozon. Servais attended Kermaria and Byng schools and continued his education at Gravelbourg College. After college, he began his lifelong career of caring for the land and farmed with his dad and brothers. He was still actively farming with his son, Les, at the time of his death. On August 15, 1961, Servais married Margery Schemenauer at St. James R.C. Church and they raised three sons. Servais loved sports, especially hockey, which he excelled at. He coached hockey teams for many years when his sons were growing up. Servais took great pleasure in watching his grandchildren participate in sports also. In later years, he took up cross-country skiing and looked after track setting the Kermaria trails. Servais had a deep faith and was active in his parish. He was always willing to volunteer his time and effort towards the needs of the church, helping the parishes of Naicam, St. James and Kermaria. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, currently serving as Grand Knight of St. George's Council at Naicam. A man with a zest for life, fun and laughter, he loved to tease, to wrestle with the little kids, to give big bear hugs and solid handshakes, and he loved dessert! Servais took pride in whatever he did and believed "if it was worth doing, it was worth doing right". He had a very endearing smile and twinkle in his eye, combined with a bit of mischief and lots of laughter, and was always ready to visit. "Servais was a good man, and leaves a big void in our hearts, but a lifetime of great memories too!" Servais will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Margery (nee Schemenauer) Crozon of Naicam; three sons and seven grandchildren: Les (Kelly) Crozon of Naicam and sons Brock and Carter; Gary (Leanne) Crozon of Humboldt and daughters Taylor and Paige; and Al (Bonnie) Crozon of Saskatoon and children Kennedey, Mackenzie and Presley; two brothers: Marc Crozon of Naicam; and Claude (Gert) Crozon of Regina; brother-in-law, Andre Creurer of St. Brieux; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws of the Schemenauer family. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Yvonne (nee Gueguen) Crozon; siblings: Annette Creurer, Marie (Paul) Kernaleguen, Frances Crozon, Herve (Bernice) Crozon, Roch Crozon, and Yvonne Crozon (in infancy); and by sister-in-law, Bernice Crozon. The Prayer Service for Servais was held at St. George's R.C. Church, Naicam, on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., officiated by Fr. Richard Meidl, OSB. Scripture readers were Roseanne Schemenauer and Kelly Crozon, and the eulogy was delivered by Taylor Crozon and Brock Crozon. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. George's R.C. Church on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., concelebrated by Fr. Richard Meidl, OSB, and Fr. Lorne Crozon. Others taking part were: Kennedey Crozon, crossbearer; Cloe Berthold and Joel Schemenauer, altar servers; Colette Loyns and Claude Crozon, scripture readers; Marilyn Berthold, intentions; Arlene Anholt and Joanne Meyer, memorial table attendants; St. George's Parish Choir, music ministry. An honor guard was formed by members of the Knights of Columbus. Pallbearers were Brock Crozon, Matthew Creurer, Kevin Crozon, Carter Crozon, Grant Crozon, and Mark Schemenauer. Interment followed at St. George's R.C. Cemetery, Naicam. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation or the Naicam-Spalding Foodgrains Bank.
