It is with profound sadness that the family of Therese (nee Bourgeault) Cales announces her peaceful passing at her residence, St. Ann's Home, Saskatoon, SK, on Saturday, March 3, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years of age. Therese was born on April 26, 1925, to Rosaire and Lucie (nee Garand) Bourgeault in Marcelin, Saskatchewan. She was living at home when she met the love of her life, Alphonse Cales. On June 10, 1946, she married "Al" in St. Joseph's R.C. Church at Marcelin. Two years after their marriage, they bought the Cales homestead, where they worked side by side to farm the land and raise livestock. Their marriage was blessed with two children; Annette was born in January of 1950, and John in September of 1951. As the years passed, Therese was there in a huge way to support to Al and the family by growing the very best of gardens, preserving fruits and vegetables, caring for the livestock and being Al's number one assistant during harvest and butchering. She could cook an amazing meal from scratch in no time at all to enjoy at their table, take it to the field, or keep it warm for hours. Sunday family dinners were a highlight when Annette and John brought her grandchildren for a meal and a visit. Her love of Kaiser brought such fun to their kitchen table. She could challenge the best of players with her wit, sluffs, and just plain guts to go for the most tricks possible. She played to winand win she did. Therese was also an avid bowler. She loved the game and was just as competitive. Bronco games were the best, sitting above the zamboni entrance and giving the referees and the players a piece of her mind. Therese and Al also enjoyed fishing, travelling with her children and siblings to places within the Continental U. S. A. as well as Hawaii and Mexico. Their life was well lived - a job well done. The years after Al passed (1999) were challenging for her physically and she showed the same wit and guts to fight her difficulties as she did while raising her children and guiding her grandchildren. Her spunk, giggle, gentle loving ways, and "never give up" personality will continue to inspire the family she leaves behind; her two children and their families: Annette Cales (Emil Florizone) of Saskatoon, SK, and her children, Dianne (Lloyd) Pilla and their children Carlee and Talon of Spruce Grove, AB, Sandy Hembroff and children Holly and Jack of Spruce Grove, Jim Kopp (Jo Hardy) and children, Ridge, Jensen, and Cody and Tori Hardy of Saskatoon, and Gary (Teresa) Florizone and children, Rachele, Megan and Brandon of Regina, SK; John (Elaine) Cales of LeRoy, SK, and their children Rob (Karri) Cales and children Dylann and Mackenzie of Lethbridge, AB, Richard Cales (Shannon Klassen) of Kindersley, SK, Ron (Brandi) Cales and children Easton, Kamdyn and Landyn of Kindersley, Cori (Lisa) Timmerman of Calgary, AB, Tami (Dennis) Molle and children Morgan and Ty of Watson, SK, and Kelli Timmerman (Mike Barr) and son Carter of LeRoy; one brother, Andy (Marge) Bourgeault; three sisters: Rita (Steve) Sikora, Marguerite (Dan) Chura, and Yvonne Horner; sisters-in-law: Marie Bourgeault, Rose Bourgeault, and Loretta Kopp; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Al Cales (October 18, 1999); parents, Rosaire and Lucie (nee Garand) Bourgeault; three brothers and one sister; and by numerous in-laws. The Prayer Service for Therese was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Friday, March 9, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., led by Donna Bergermann and organist Cis Nakonechny. Scripture readers were Sandy Hembroff and Ron Cales, and the eulogy was delivered by Rob Cales and Dianne Pilla. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Peter's Cathedral, Muenster, SK, on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Daniel Muyres, OSB. Others taking part were: Carlee Pilla, crossbearer; Rob Cales and Dianne Pilla, scripture readers; Jim Kopp, intentions; Therese's great-grandchildren, giftbearers; and Elaine Cales, eucharistic minister. Music ministry was provided by The Korte Singers and pianist Carlee Pilla. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Therese's life". Active pallbearers were Dianne Pilla, Sandy Hembroff, Jim Kopp, Rob Cales, Richard Cales, and Ron Cales. Interment followed at St. Peter's R.C. Cemetery, Muenster.
