Veronica Notschke (nee Bendig)August 19th, 1918 - February 11th, 2011Veronica passed away peacefully at Oliver Lodge at the age of 92. She is survived by her sons: Dennis (Gloria) Notschke of Perdue and Ken (Fern) Notschke of Young; grand-daughters: Wendy (Kevin) Munro, Carrie (Andrew) Wilkinson, Shari (Duane) Klenk, Shayna (Indy) Das, Paula (Andrew) Karvonen; great-grandchildren: Jason, Kyren, Kyle, Danielle, Brayden, Justin, Jordan, Adam, Jayden, Ethan, Jasmine and Ava; one sister, Madeline (John) Gerlinsky; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Theodore and Elizabeth (nee Gerlinsky) Bendig; husband, Henry (1965); siblings: Matilda, Valentine, Tony, and three siblings in infancy. Veronica was born on the family farm at Bruno. She went to St. Quinton Country School. After leaving home, Veronica prided herself in working with infants at Cudworth Hospital. She married Henry, the "love of her life", in 1940, and took over the Notschke family farm. Not long after, her two sons were born, Dennis and Ken. They raised their two sons on the farm where they thoroughly enjoyed the farm life. When Henry passed away in 1965, Veronica moved to Bruno for two years, and then to Saskatoon where she resided until her passing. While living there, she enjoyed bowling, gardening, quilting, playing cards, and dancing. The thing Veronica enjoyed the most was her family. Every summer she always looked forward to having her five granddaughters spend time with her. Her granddaughters looked forward to staying with grandma also. They knew this was the time for donuts and chocolate milk for breakfast, and the many memorable trips to Manitou pool near Watrous. Veronica was a very proud member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for all her years in Saskatoon until her passing. The Memorial Service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with interment at Bruno Lutheran Cemetery at a later date and will be announced at that time. Veronica's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all the staff at Oliver Lodge for all the kind and loving care she received before she went to her final home. Memorial donations may be directed to Oliver Lodge, Angels of Care, 1405 Faulkner Cres., Saskatoon, SK, S7L 3R5. SCHULER-LEFEBVRE, Humboldt, SK.
