HNATIW: William Glen

January 1, 1966 – May 1, 2017

Mr. William Hnatiw (Willy) of the Bruno district passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the age of 51 years. William was born on January 1, 1966 to John Joseph Hnatiw and Pauline (nee Stecyk). He attended and graduated school in Bruno, Saskatchewan. Willy did many numerous things during his life. He acquired many certificates throughout his lifetime and worked at numerous places. He was a joy to all that worked with him. Willy became certified as an organic inspector and did this for a number of years.  He took his role in this capacity very seriously and was outstanding at his job overseeing the proper application of the organic standards in food production.  He was well known to be very generous with his time in assisting new producers in learning all about the standards. This was more than just a job to him as organic farming was embodied in the very core of his belief system. Willy was a man of deep integrity and strength of character. Any and all that were blessed enough to know him, knew this about him instantly. He fought diligently for the underdog, loved the less fortunate and was very much a part of nature as the wind itself. He had a strong sense of the true meaning of life which is love. Time had no meaning to him. It was a fluid concept that was superseded by his love of life. He had a deep love for his family and the farm that they grew up on. His deep love reached out to the all the animals that touched his life as well and their value was enormous to him. He would often go without in order to ensure their well-being. Ultimately, he resided at the family farm to practice organic farming. As a hobby, Willy loved music and writing songs. Willy’s love for music and song writing will leave a special song in the hearts of all those that loved him. William is survived by his siblings, Christine (Len) Bartsch, Fred Hnatiw, Orest (Marlene) Hnatiw, Joseph (Myrna) Hnatiw, and Sylvia Hnatiw (Mike) and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and all that knew him. He was predeceased by his Mother, Pauline (nee Stecyk) Hnatiw, Father, John Joseph Hnatiw, brothers; Johnny Hnatiw and Kenneth Hnatiw, and Grandparents. A special service and funeral arrangement to be announced at a later date.
