BARRIER FORD — Parks in northeast Saskatchewan held several Canada Day celebrations.
The hamlet of Barrier Ford, located in northeast Saskatchewan, hosted its first annual Canada Day parade, featuring more than 18 entries. Lakegoers brought their golf carts, quads and side-by-sides, along with a few bicyclists.
The parade ended in front of the Barrier Ford store and restaurant, where participants were treated to free donuts. Children’s games were also organized, and the day was filled with smiles.

The Hamlet of Barrier Ford said on social media, “Thanks to everyone who came out and decorated their side-by-sides and golf carts. Happy Canada Day.”
With favourable weather, several boats took to the water and the beach was busy with visitors.
According to the 2021 Census of Population by Statistics Canada, Barrier Ford had a population of 30 residents living in 19 of its 125 total private dwellings.
