Bjorkdale News: Fire department to benefit from gas fundraiser

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, Beeland Co-op will donate a minimum of five cents per litre of fuel purchased at the Bjorkdale location to the Bjorkdale Fire Department.

BJORKDALE — The Bjorkdale fire department has been selected as one of the organizations that will be given the proceeds from the Beeland Co-op Ltd. Fuel Good Days.

On Tuesday, Sept. 20 at  participating Co-op Gas Bars in Western Canada, Co-op will donate a minimum of five cents per litre of fuel purchased to a local registered charity or non-profit organization. All grades of gasoline and diesel fuel are eligible. Tisdale Minor Ball and Northeast Regional Victim Services are the other two organizations receiving this money. The local fire department will be hosting a barbeque for the community that day at noon. Please come out and support this worthwhile initiative. 

The school year started on Tuesday, Sept. 1 and already school sports have started up. Cross Country will start up right after the long weekend. If local residents can be mindful of kids crossing streets after school. Please obey all speed limits and street signs. The Grades 9 through 12 students will be running up some of the hill streets in town.

The school will also be hosting their annual breakfast on Friday, Sept. 16. Parents are invited to pancakes and sausage that morning and meet the school staff. Joanne Schmitt is the newest staff member in Bjorkdale school. She has replaced Jordann Kovach and is now teaching Grades 5 and 6.
