BJORKDALE — The new school year will be starting shortly with the first day of classes for students on Thursday, Sept. 1 in Bjorkdale.

Teachers head back earlier on Aug. 29 to start planning and organizing for the school year. The Village of Bjorkdale wants to remind all drivers to please drive cautiously and reduce your speed in and around the school zone.

The Bjorkdale Wapiti Library organized an “Embroidery String Bracelet” class for children aged 5 to 18 years of age on Tuesday, Aug. 16. Seven kids participated and enjoyed making their very own personalized bracelets.

The library is also hosting a “Building Readers Card Game” for kids 8 to 18 years old on Tuesday, Aug. 23 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. They are creating their own card and board games for them to take home and play. The Bjorkdale Wapiti library would like to acknowledge the support from the Kimberley Foundation for their support. Both programs were provided free of charge.

The Village of Bjorkdale is looking for any used Christmas lights that still work. These would be used for the decorating of a Village Christmas tree annually. If anyone would like to donate their lights, please contact the Village office at 306-886-2167.
