Bjorkdale News: Two locals earn spot in cross-country provincials

BJORKDALE — Our senior runners both earned a spot on the NESSAC Cross-Country team for Provincials. 

With harvest finally complete, Nolan was able to compete in his first race of the season, finishing in seventh place in Sr. Boys. Grace was able earn a second place finish in Sr. Girls. Nolan and Grace will compete in Cross Country Provincials on Oct. 15, at the Wapiti Recreation Area. 

This year our team did very well overall local NESSAC Cross-Country league, and two of our runners earned the title of NESSAC league champions. Overall placement for each race earns points through out the season.

Congratulations to Rowan, who was the Bantan Girls League Champion, and to Grace, who was the Sr Girls League Champion.

The Rural Municipality of Bjorkdale No. 426 had their closing date for nominations on Wednesday, October 4. Divisions 2, 4 and 6 were open. All divisions had one candidate and were therefore acclaimed by acclamation. The new Division 2 councillor will be Gilbert Desrosiers, Division 4 will have the return of Jim Spedding and Division 6 will see Johnathon Hudak as their new councillor.
