CANDLE LAKE — The Resort Village of Candle Lake Emergency Services is asking residents to be on pre-alert notice for possible evacuation.

In a public notice posted by the Resort Village of Candle Lake it said, “The pre alert is being issued as a result of the Camp and Shoe fires currently burning to the east of Candle Lake.

“The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) is providing support to the municipality in the event this situation escalates beyond our capacity. While there is no immediate danger, residents are advised to stay alert and begin planning for a potential evacuation, which could occur on short notice should the situation escalate, emergency services suggest.”

The notice advised residents to prepare in the following ways:

  • Organize accommodation outside of the resort village.

  • Ensure vehicles are fuelled and ready to travel.

  • Prepare an emergency kit which includes: prescription medications, important documents, passports, papers,  computers, laptops, valuables and items that are meaningful to you. As well as personal items, clothing, toiletries, phone chargers and supplies for pets.

The notice advised should the situation escalate, an evacuation centre will be set up, and details will be provided as soon as possible.

The notice advised that daily or more frequent updates will be provided on the Resort Village Facebook page and the Candle Lake website.
