CANDLE LAKE — Outdoor enthusiasts are invited to take part in Into the Pines, a guided hiking event on Sept. 13 at Candle Lake Provincial Park.
Running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event highlights the scenic Old Baldy Trail, a 5.8-kilometre loop that winds through wetlands, mixed forest and elevated viewpoints. Park interpreters will lead the hike, pointing out the diverse plants and wildlife that make the area unique, according to the Saskatchewan Parks website.
The day begins at 10 a.m. with a welcome and warmup session, including safety tips and planning advice for future hikes. At 10:30 a.m., participants will head out on the trail, stopping midway for a self-packed lunch break.
Following the hike, snacks and refreshments are planned from 1:30 to 2 p.m., giving visitors a chance to relax and socialize.
The event is free with a valid park entry permit. Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy footwear, bring water and pack a lunch.
