Senator Myles Venne School honours 28 grads in La Ronge

Senator Myles Venne School in La Ronge celebrated over 28 graduates on June 25, with dignitaries attending and heartfelt messages shared.

LA RONGE — Senator Myles Venne School held its graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 25, celebrating more than 28 graduates. 

Special dignitaries in attendance included FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron, PAGC Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte, LLRIB councillors Sam Roberts, Gerald McKenzie, Dean Roberts, Charlene Venne, Chief Tammy Cook-Searson, and MLA representative Jordan McPhail. 

Chief Tammy Cook-Searson of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band shared a message on social media: 
“Thank you to the principal, teachers, and support staff of Senator Myles Venne School for your dedication in guiding and supporting the graduates. We also acknowledge the parents and guardians for their unwavering support in helping the students reach this important milestone. We wish all the graduates the very best as they begin the next chapter of their journey. The future is bright with so many talented young people ready to take on any challenge that comes their way.”

La Ronge is the largest community in northern Saskatchewan. As of the 2021 Census, the town had a population of 2,521, while the wider La Ronge–Air Ronge area, including First Nations lands, has more than 5,600 residents.
