Winter is cold enough – the arena shouldn’t be colder than necessary. That’s why the Carrot River Recreation Board is raising money to improve the temperatures inside the local rink.

The feelings were mixed about the cuts to STC Bus services across the province. But for Eric Ruthven at Kemway Lanes, it was a sad day on May 31 as the final bus departed the Humboldt depot at 8:20 bound for Saskatoon.

The scores did not really matter on the Humboldt Golf Course back nine as the Big Brothers Big Sisters Humboldt and Area (BBBS) and Humboldt and District Kinettes held their third annual Diva for a Day golf tournament.

KUNZ: Pauline March 9, 1931 – May 27, 2017 Pauline (nee Crone) Kunz of Humboldt, SK passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. She was 86 years of age.

Despite temperatures reaching approximately 30 C a handful of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 28 members, and members of the community participated in Decoration Day at the Veterans’ Section of the Humboldt Public Cemetery on June 4.

Playing in the National Hockey League is no small feat. And that feat was not lost on members of the community as the Humboldt and District Sports Hall of Fame is getting set to induct former NHLer Brad Lauer into the hall.

Dear Brad Wall, please ignore Kathleen Wynne’s Ontario Liberals. Recently the Ontario Liberal Party announced they were going to increase minimum wage in Ontario to $14 an hour in 2018 and $15 an hour in 2019. That to me seems a little excessive.

The summer may mean no hockey, but it does not mean coaches, managers, and scouts aren’t working, especially with last week’s Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Bantam Draft.

With summer in full swing coaches, managers and scouts from each of the 12 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League teams were still hard at work as they recently completed the 2017 SJHL bantam draft.
