Radisson Royal Purple ladies will be judging 82 posters on Healthy or Positive Lifestyles Feb. 6 at their meeting. The posters were entered from Grades 1-6 from Borden and Maymont Schools. There was also one media/video entry from Borden Grade 12 class and this and the winning posters will be sent on to provincial competition by the end of February.

The sale of Peace 100 Snowmobile Rally tickets by Royal Purple ladies ends Feb. 10, in order to get in for the draw Feb. 18 in Nipawin.

Congratulations to Sandra Long of Borden who became a great-grandmother with the birth of Zak Michael Bradley, weighing seven pounds, seven ounces, Jan. 31. Proud parents are Michael and Jamie Markowski of Wakaw.

Borden Parks and Recreation Board held a Casino Night Feb. 4 in the Borden Community Centre with a fairly good crowd on hand, although there could have been more from Borden. They had great appetizers and drink specials and fun was had by all who attended.

Winning the $1,000 travel voucher was Sheri McCutcheon from Radisson, and the prizes donated by David and Michelle Sutherland, Lorraine Olinyk, Uniglobe and Saskatoon Blades went to Karen Winkenweader, Michael Zacharias and Mary Ostachoff, all from Langham, and to Luke Walker of Borden.

The Borden Dance Club tap dancers were in Saskatoon Feb. 5 for two performances at the Stars of Hope Dance Gala in aid of the Canadian Cancer Society. The event was held at Tommy Douglas Collegiate and there were 21 groups or solos performing in the afternoon and again in the evening. In the past five years it has been held, this dance gala, along with a silent auction, has raised over $50,000 for cancer. Tap dancing from the Borden club to Crazy Little Thing Called Love were Natalie Anderson, Jasmine Bezugly, Danika and Robynn Pidwerbesky, Emma and Sara Precesky, Rachel and Savannah Sutherland and Tearia Tracksell, choreographed by their teachers Sarah Rospad and Amy Rissling.

At the Borden United Church Feb. 5, for the children's story, Gayle Wensley played guitar for the singing of action songs and Carol Crabb and Gayle acted out the story of Jonah and the fish. Church is at 11 a.m. Feb. 12, with a potluck lunch and the annual meeting to follow.

A number of people from Borden travelled in to Saskatoon Feb. 4 to attend the 70th birthday party for Iris McPherson, a former Bordenite. The event was held at the RCAF Assoc. Lynx Wing in Saskatoon and besides guests from Borden there were many of Iris's siblings and her four children - Cathy, Doug, Debbie and Diana along with their spouses and families.

Correction

In the Regional Optimist, Feb. 3 edition, the heading for the Borden/Radisson News on Page 46 incorrectly described the welcoming service for a new minister. The minister is new to the River Valley Anglican Parish, Diocese of Saskatoon and the service was held at St. John's Anglican Church in Borden.
