A unique exhibition of fibre works is on display at the Chapel Gallery for the month of March.
Carol Schmold created one piece each week for a year. "Artless Fabrications" is a collection that shows the artist's explorations with fibre techniques and different approaches to making images.
The project began as a self-directed challenge after Schmold moved from Calgary, Alta. to Plenty. She was motivated by the desire to get back in touch with her artistic creativity, to explore new techniques in fibre art and to discipline herself to work within an imposed deadline.
She established the One Speckled Egg Gallery in Plenty and continues to create new work.
There is a reception for 'Artless Fabrications" on Saturday, March 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the gallery.
There will also be a workshop with Carol Schmold on Saturday, March 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. "Discovering New Creative Pathways Through Journaling" will help artists on all levels explore different ways to build a portfolio of creative ideas using sketchbook journaling. Simple exercises, intuitive colour selection and incorporating symbolism are just some of the ideas covered in the workshop.
This workshop is limited to 20 participants. Call the gallery at 445-1757 to register. Registration is $80 for members and $120 for non-members.
