Auxiliary hosts card tournaments

The Maidstone Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies' Auxiliary held a cribbage and kaiser tournament Jan. 22 at the local Legion Hall on Main Street. The turnout was not as large as hoped for, but those who attended enjoyed the event.

The Maidstone Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies' Auxiliary held a cribbage and kaiser tournament Jan. 22 at the local Legion Hall on Main Street.

The turnout was not as large as hoped for, but those who attended enjoyed the event. Entry fee was $5. At the conclusion of the tournament a beef on a bun meal was available for $4.50.

First place winners of cribbage were Linda Garnier and Donna Procuk. Runners up were Patty Blanchette and Ross Nicholson. Low score went to Daphne McLaren and Dorothy Harmel.

Top score in kaiser went to Caroline Smith and Dorothy Schwartz. Runners up were Mick Ross and Eva Inkster. Low score went to Ken Schwartz and Eileen Merchewka.

The Legion Ladies' Auxiliary is planning to host a similar event again this winter. Watch for posters when the next date is announced.
