H. Hardcastle School undergrad awards were presented June 16. The following students achieved honour and merit roll.

Other awards that were presented that afternoon were: golf - Reed Delainey, girls' athletic - Keinyn Nordell, girls' athletic runner-up - Kaitlyn McCarthy, boys' athletic - Reed Delainey, boys' athletic runner-up - Jared Blaquiere, Math 30A - Bailey Delainey, Math 30B - Bailey Delainey, Chemistry 30 - Bailey Delainey, home economics - Bailey Delainey, computers (information processing), Shanae Blaquiere and Mikayla Detillieux, Spirit of Drama - Jessica Bec, Calculus 30 - Bailey Delainey, native studies - Bailey Delainey, psychology - Bailey Delainey.

Earning general proficiency awards were: Grade 9 ($150) split between Kaitlyn McCarthy and Keinyn Nordell; Grade 10 ($150) - Kelcey McCarthy; Grade 11 ($150) - Bailey Delainey; Division III girls - Kaitlyn McCarthy; Division III boys - Reed Delainey.

Academic Achievement Scholarships of $150 each were earned by: Grade 9 - Jessica Bec, Grade 10 - Kelcey McCarthy, Grade 11 - Bailey Delainey.

The SRC executive for the next school year includes president - Brandi Kobes, vice-president - Kelcey McCarthy, secretary - Jessica Bec, treasurer - Emma Head, social director - Shanae Blaquiere, members at large - Thomas Seipp and Brent Kobes, sports representatives - Kaitlyn McCarthy and Brooke Roach.

June 14, Stellar Insurance Agencies held their annual community barbecue. The door prize winners were: Marion Ottas, Matthew Nedelec, Renee Day, Gerald Latendresse, Rose-Anne Corbeil, James Fudge, Bill Roach, Ryan Suderman, Karis Latendresse and Henri Blaquiere.

Congratulations to the May trip of the month winners, Maurice and Louise Schaefer, with Ray and Charlene Seipp winning $100.

Also in May there was a farewell party for Doug and Gail Fawcett. They will now be making their home in beautiful Chemainus, B.C. We wish you all the best in your new home.

June 21, a bridal shower was held in honour of June bride elect, Katie Carson. Katie, daughter of Diane Thomas of Abbotsford, B.C., married Joey LaClare, son of Maurice and Diane LaClare of Edam, June 25. The happy couple are making their home in Edam with their son, Theo, where Katie is currently on maternity leave and Joey works at Severs and farms. Congratulations and may you have a long and happy marriage.

We now move on to the top three accelerated reading point achievers for the school year. These presentations were made June 29 by librarian Chrissy Roset. Grade 1: Trayton Troesch (35.1), Keira Lascelle (33.6), Braxton Letwinetz (33.4); Grade 2: Abbey Harty (90.0), Nevin Poole (75.1), Kylee Bec (68.4); Grade 3: Jaxon Harty (316.0), Laney Blanchette (101.8), Jade Cole (73.6); Grade 4: Danika Holloway (101.0), Brady Deobald (63.5), Candace Greening (60.0); Grade 5: Blake Blais (99.6), Natasha Nedelec (95.3), Courteney Fudge (66.0); Grade 6: Lindon Goodall (223.5), Kesha Schaefer (202.8), Chelsea Bec (197.8). Congratulations on a job well done.

That is it for another week. The way that time is flying by, the summer will be over and the kids will be back in school before we know it.
