The warm weather continues. It's hard to believe we have not endured some cold weather yet. It's probably about to change in the next few days.
Christmas and New Year's were busy times for most people. Keith and Eileen Evans spent several days over Christmas at the home of John and Calynda and John Jr. in Calgary. All of Keith and Eileen's family, except Kathy and Chris Jacobs and family, gathered at John's house for Christmas.
Linda and Bill McGilvery hosted a party for their family at Christmas.
Visiting with Terry and Reneé Pike for several days over Christmas were Rheanan and Brad Beesley and their children Jesse and Addison. Also Nicole Pike of Edmonton and Lexi Pike of Calgary visited with their parents, Reneé and Terry Pike for a few days over the holiday season.
We are pleased to know Laden McGilvery is home and progressing well following an emergency appendectomy operation on Christmas Day. Our best wishes to you for a speedy recovery.
Our best wishes to Bernice Hope, who is now recuperating in Maidstone Hospital following surgery a number of days ago in Battlefords Union Hospital. We hope you will be home soon, Bernice.
Florence Pike enjoyed visits with family members over the holiday season. She spent Christmas, with other family members, at the home of her son Bill. As well as visits from other family members, Wayne and Jane Pike from Meadow Lake spent time with her on New Year's Day.
We are sorry to hear Eileen (Pike) Lamont of Salmon Arm, B.C. is presently hospitalized. We wish her a speedy recovery.
I mentioned in a recent column that part of the enjoyment of the holiday season is hearing from friends and former area residents. Ina Corker spends her winters in Mesa, Ariz. She leaves her home in Lloydminster in October. This past October she accompanied a friend for the trip there. The warm weather agrees with Ina. She always spends a happy winter.
Lois Pike hears from Marj (Chaloner) Lilley each Christmas. Marj still keeps busy. A skillful pianist, Marj continues to assist in schools, playing for musical events. She also belongs to a reading group and enjoys her garden.
Christine Pike and Betty (Tasker) Andersen, who lives in Ontario, communicate on a regular basis and send cards at Christmas. Betty, too, continues to lead a busy life.
Gully Gus says, "It's better to let folks know why you didn't talk, instead of why you did."
