A wide range of wares are available at the Paynton Farmers' Market open every Tuesday at the Paynton Arena.

Paynton has had a busy week starting with the community bake and craft sale hosted by the local library June 2.

The library ladies made delicious chilli and soups with buns and dessert for a good price, with all proceeds of the donated food going to the library. Along with the ladies, were a varied group of vendors with re-claimed art, ceramics, gourmet spices and baking goodies, banana bread and books, puzzles, teas from around the world and veggie starter plants from down the road.

Even the fire department had a table to promote safety in your home. Information about fire safety along with a chart to help you map out an escape route in your home was available, as well as a Paynton volunteer firefighters to answer questions, and yes, even come over afterwardsto change the battery and maintain your smoke detector. The community was happy to see Dave and Rob from the department there to giveout some advice.

This year, the Paynton Farmers' Market has opened up right after the spring sale, Tuesday the market opened their doors at the Paynton Arena. Situated next to the big satellite dish UFO that can be seen from the highway, the Paynton Arena hosted vendors selling bread, honey, eggs, art, ceramics, Bresaylor Heritage Museum's books and wool.

Visitors from Lloydminster came by the market after seeing the UFO along the highway some time ago. The travelling seniors had goodluck coming to see the space ship up close on the opening day of the annual summer market. Two gentlemen were pleasantly surprised to find vendors setting up for the day. They had a good look around before heading off to their next adventure.

Townspeople were happy to see the market up and running again for the season, so much so that a neighbour of the arena even made sure the lawnwas trimmed up and ready for the day.

See you there next Tuesday!
