Do you ever get discouraged at how humans act and react towards each other? I was most impressed recently to have a complete stranger hand in my credit card that was found in a local parking lot. I don't know who she is, and she likely doesn't know me but it was a kind act that was appreciated.
My son was discouraged when trying to research a community for a school project. Grade 4 boys aren't always patient with the process or try their hardest, but when we were convinced of the difficulty he was having we helped him ask again. We were most impressed that two kind folks from their city office returned his email, and called him to see how they could help. They didn't have to do this, but by doing so they reassured a 10-year-old that people will help you when needed.
Regional drama festival was successful for UCHS drama. They proudly presented their production, A Sunday Dress Rehearsal, to the public prior to heading festival, April 20 and 21. They placed second overall out of seven schools. Wynona Hansen earned the Mary Ellen Burgess acting award and Jonathan Neigum and Kyla Greenwarld earned acting awards of merit. Next year UCHS will be hosting the regional drama festival.

Catherine Sperle trained for the provincial women's body building competition and her efforts paid off in the Provincial Novice Women's Open category, where she placed fourth.
Unity Motor Products is about to begin renovations at their downtown location. Due to rising construction costs and the hole their absence would have left in downtown Unity, they decided to stay put and renovate their existing building for a projected $800,000. Downtown businesses as well as the chamber of commerce are pleased with this decision.
The Town of Unity reminds residents that backyard garbage pickup will resume April 30. The recycle centre has been temporarily moved to the town shop location and many bins are set out there, but please adhere to the proper placement of your recyclables in the designated bins. Notices have been posted in the local paper and at the town giving these specifications. Help keep our town beautiful by adhering to these.

The Unity Health Care Foundation is looking for financial support to help raise money for the cost of installing computerized radiography at the Unity Health Centre x-ray department. The UHCF has funded this project to a tune of $93,000 but will need your financial support to replenish their reserves. The UHCF has supported the delivery of health care services in this community for nearly 25 years contributing almost $1.3 million with your help.
As part of the UN's designation that 2012 was declared "International Year of the Cooperatives" and Saskatchewan Co-operatives declaring the last week of May as Co-operative Week of Volunteering. Unity Credit Union and Delta Co-op have partnered for a project that is sure to excite the residents of Unity and surrounding areas. Roughriders, Chris Getzlaff and Keith Shologan will be on hand for a kick off barbecue to help raise awareness of the volunteer project and campaign.
Coffee row folk are discussing a topic that many women say should be off the table this time of year, but are always enticing to the men - hockey playoffs. Like them or love them, there are many more weeks to come. And these playoffs are never dull being that TSN has declared the uncompleted first round of playoffs has already garnered more suspensions than the entire series of playoffs and Stanley Cup championships last year.
