Borden Library Children's Summer Activity program started July 9, with 21 children aged five to 12 years enjoying a Scavenger Hunt, crafts and other activities with supervisor Emma Prescesky and helpers Graham Sargent, Danika Pidwerbesky and Sara Prescesky. The program is every Wednesday until Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with nominal cost. There is also mom and tot reading time every Wednesday from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Winning the dessert of the month for the library draw in June was Sandi Long, with pies provided by Helen Sutherland.
Visiting from Christchurch, New Zealand, is my family - Bryan, Helen and grandson Nikolai Pidwerbesky. They arrived June 30, celebrated Canada Day in Saskatoon, then July 2 headed out to the Dakotas for 10 days of visiting tourist sites and places of interest, arriving back in Borden on July 11.
July 12 relatives on the Gordon Orchard side and friends gathered at Lac La Peche, north of Krydor, at the cabin of Kevin and Austin Orchard, for a 50th birthday party, celebrating half a century for Kevin Orchard, Todd Pidwerbesky, and Bobby Lesko. It was an afternoon of visiting for the older folks and on the water for the younger and more daring set, then everyone enjoyed a barbecue supper with cake and ice cream.
Bryan and family leave on the morning of July 18 to fly back to New Zealand, as Nikolai, aged 13 and in Year 9, has to be back in school on July 21. He missed one week of school then had a two-week term break, as in New Zealand it is the winter season right now
