Glenburn Park holds fundraiser

A good crowd attended the Glen "Burger" barbecue fundraising event at the Maymont Seniors' Centre to raise money for improvements to Glenburn Park. The famous Glen "Burger," chips, beans and pop and coffee were served.

Available for sale were Maymont and district telephone directories with proceeds going to Glenburn Park. These directories can be picked up at the village office and SGI for $3.

The park board consists of Bill and Darlene Melrose, Kelly Gray, Nancy Beaudoin, Lori Harris, Cliff and Sandi Greenslade, Shauna Ferris, Mel Deagnon, David Gillatt, Wendy Davis, Ron Danielson and Kinley Sevick.

Glenburn Regional Park was officially opened in 1967 after several years of organizing and building the facilities. It is situated on Highway 376 between Maymont and Sonningdale, along the North Saskatchewan River. The park is near the site where the Maymont ferry operated from 1926 to 1975. Glenburn Park offers many features including a man-made swimming pool with water coming from a natural spring, golf course, ball diamonds, camping and concession booth. Glenburn Park is a popular place during the summer months.

The trade and craft show was held on April 15 with 14 tables and a good variety of articles for sale. Lunch was provided by the Maymont Library Board. Door prizes were: Lia Sophia necklace donated by Gaetanne Beaudoin - Dan Prescesky; Sweet Snugglies Gift Bag donated by Connie Jack - Marielle Cook; trellis donated by Larry and Anna Semynuk - Pat Redekopp; baking donated by Sophia Trach - Anita Prescesky.

A correction to last week's news, it was Allan Beierle who removed the hedge from the Ruddell Cemetery.
