Head to head in spirited debate

The North Battleford Comprehensive High School debate team participated in a debate they hosted Jan. 13. Four NBCHS teams participated.

The North Battleford Comprehensive High School debate team participated in a debate they hosted Jan. 13.

Four NBCHS teams participated. These teams were Laura Oingonn and Brandon Horrell, Jean Van Der Merwe and Colton Hutchinson, Arsalan Anees and Emily Jackson and Sean Newton and Taisley Isaac. I

n the novice category, Oingonn and Horrell won one debate and lost two. Van Der Merwe and Hutchinson won two and lost one, they came in third place in their category. Anees and Jackson won two and lost one and came in second place. Oingonn won second place for speaker points and Jackson won third.

In the open category Isaac and Newton lost both of their debates.

The debate topic was that this house should condemn the use of drones in warfare. The teams had to research information on the topic and then they had to fight for both affirmative and negative.
