The Speers Recreation Hall was host to their annual Christmas jam Dec. 16.

Donations were taken at the door with people entering their name for a chance to win door prizes.

The jam began at 2 p.m. Christmas carols and country music were played to the crowd.

The sounds of local talent filled the center, accompanied by the smell of turkey dinner wafting through the air, making for an irresistible and entertaining afternoon.

Volunteers served supper at 5 p.m. The full course meal included turkey, potatoes, vegetabless, salad, meatballs, lazy-man cabbage rolls, buns, gravy and the fixin's. Trifle was served for dessert. It was a really good deal at $7 a ticket.

People danced and enjoyed a chance to catch up with neighbours on the latest family holiday news.

The draws were made for two generous Christmas hampers, stocked full of many good things including a ham and turkey. These hampers were made from donations. A big thank you to all who donated. Winners of the hampers are Denis Berezowski and Nelson Nicholson.

The door prize winners are Mary Harach, Marion Wohlberg and Dave Howe.

The afternoon was a big success with over 85 people in attendance. Speers next jam will go ahead Jan. 13.

Wishing the best of the holiday season to all.
