Legion hosts card tourney

The Maidstone Legion members hosted a Kaiser and cribbage tournament Jan 28 at the Legion Hall. A small crowd was in attendance, but those present enjoyed the afternoon.

The Maidstone Legion members hosted a Kaiser and cribbage tournament Jan 28 at the Legion Hall. A small crowd was in attendance, but those present enjoyed the afternoon. Winners of the Kaiser were Brad Hill and Kevin Minky and runners up were Doug and Diane Smith of Lashburn. Cribbage winners were Bev Stewart and Dorothy Schwartz. Runners up were Trina Tuplin and Lorna Foster. Beef on a bun and all the trimmings were available. A number of Maidstone Drop In Centre members attended.

On the fifth Monday in a month that has five Mondays, games of choice are played. The choice this Monday was 500. High score for the afternoon went to Dorothy Schwartz and low went to Eva Inkster. Lunch was provided by Jean Hartman.

Don't forget the January-February potluck supper is coming up Friday, Feb. 17. Everyone is welcome.

The Monthly meeting was held Jan. 3 with president Margaret MacEachern in the chair. The March meeting will be held the second Friday, March 9, as the first Friday is World Day of Prayer and many members attend this service.

March 14 a stew and biscuit noon luncheon will be held.

New tables for the centre are to be purchased.

The new centre was opened 25 years ago this June and a small celebration was discussed.

Lil McMillan donated a new afghan for one of the chesterfields. Money from all events in February will go to Telemiracle. Following the meeting lunch was provided by Lil McMillan.

Feb. 6, the card game 500 was played. High score went to Dorothy Kissick and low to Jean Hartman. Jean Stewart and Margaret MacEachern provided and served lunch.
