Village of Maymont fans were entertained by Neil Diamond Friday the 13th - lucky day for us. Neil was born Jan. 24, 1941 - 71 years young - and is an American singer-songwriter with a career spanning over five decades from the 1960s until the present. Neil sings a variety of rock, pop, folk, country and soft rock. He is considered to be the third most successful adult contemporary artist ever on the Billboard chart behind Barbara Streisand and Elton John.
He has had eight number one hit singles: Cracklin Rosie, Song Sung Blue, Desiree, You Don't Bring Me Flowers, Love on the Rocks, America, Yesterday's Songs and Heartlight, and of course my favourite, Sweet Caroline. Neil continues to record and release new material and maintains an extensive touring schedule as well.
For those who missed the concert, which will probably be his last in Saskatoon, you missed a terrific concert. Saskatchewan loved Neil Diamond; you could ask the full house of over 11,000 people who saw him.
