Meeting helps lay out plans for the future

The Redberry Lake Biosphere Reserve Planning District Initiative to help plan the future hosted a community meeting on April 16 at the seniors' centre to discuss their future.

The Redberry Lake Biosphere Reserve Planning District Initiative to help plan the future hosted a community meeting on April 16 at the seniors' centre to discuss their future.

More than 30 individuals attended to learn about the planning process and create their goals for the village of Maymont and district. The evening was well received and positive feedback was shared by those who attended. Common aspirations shared by the group included: protecting green space and ecological areas, keeping the community clean and revitalization efforts for Maymont's Main Street.

The RMs of Great Bend No. 405, Douglas No. 436 and Meeting Lake No. 446, the towns of Hafford and Radisson and the villages of Maymont, Speers and Borden have come together to create a Regional Sustainability Plan to help guide future growth and development.

Maymont dance recital was held April 20 in the Maymont School Gym. The recital was enjoyed by all who attended.

The Maymont fire truck was called out to a bush fire two and a half miles east of Maymont April 24. No damage was done.
