Mother's Day tea hosted

Speers and District United Church ladies held their Mother's Day tea, bake and plant sale in the recreation hall May 19 and enjoyed a good turnout. Denise Taylor had a good variety of plants for sale and did well on her sales.

Speers and District United Church ladies held their Mother's Day tea, bake and plant sale in the recreation hall May 19 and enjoyed a good turnout.

Denise Taylor had a good variety of plants for sale and did well on her sales. There was a "new to you" table with donated articles and the United Church ladies served tea and dainties. Raffle prize winners were Marlene MacDonald, Emily Stoly, Deanne Arnold and Joyce Schell.

May 8, Colleen Wicks, local librarian, hosted a speaker at the library. Shannon Flath from Radisson, who is a certified nutrition consultant, master herbalist and holistic health practitioner gave a demonstration and talk. Shannon is also trained as a live blood analyst.

Charlie and Anna Louise Billings of Kelowna, B.C. celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. Charlie and Anna Louise lived in Richard then moved to Saskatoon and later Kelowna. They were married in 1937 and worked for Walt Smith. They have a family of three. Ida, Anna Louise's sister, and Ida's husband Cliff Gillatt of Richard were able to attend the celebration in Kelowna.

Colleen and Norman Wicks of Speers were guests at the 85th birthday supper for Ed Ross, formerly of Spinney Hill, who lives in Deer Valley Apartments, Kramer Place. Ed's family hosted the supper with approximately 35 members and guests attending.
