There is no time like the holidays to share talent and creativity.

Ratushniak Elementary School held their annual Christmas concert this week.

A Teddy Bear Christmas is a musical by Teresa Jennings. It was performed by the students in Grades 1 to 3 with an opening number performed by the kindergarten class.

The little ones recited a poem and sang action songs. The next item was a digital video Christmas card prepared by the staff with music and comedy to show the 12 months of Ratushniak. The video was a surprise and everyone enjoyed seeing the staff acting out the seasons of the year.

The play introduced a family of bears who were preparing for the holidays. They wrote their letters to Santa asking for lots of gifts but then changed their minds when they realized how much they would miss Teddy if he didn't come home from school for Christmas.

They changed their request asking for Teddy instead of the toys and Santa delivered.

The storyline was woven between the song and dance numbers featuring each class. The bears looked delightful in their matching costumes, ears and make-up. The voices were strong and the dancers kept their smiles and their rhythm.

There was a little bit of hip-hop, a little familiarity and a little bit of something new in the music and it was pulled together well by the cast of bears who even acted as their own stage hands.

The audience beamed back at the students and the spirit of the season shone through the gymnasium.
