Pie bingos are popular

There was a better than usual turnout for cards on Monday, Sept. 16 at the Maidstone Senior Centre. There was one table of cribbage. He went to Molly Den Ouden, and low went to Laurence Den Ouden.

There was a better than usual turnout for cards on Monday, Sept. 16 at the Maidstone Senior Centre. There was one table of cribbage. He went to Molly Den Ouden, and low went to Laurence Den Ouden. The rest of the seniors played a card game named Golf. The winner was Lil McMillan. Lunch was provided by Jean Hartman.

Bingo was played Sept. 18 with 16 seniors present. Joan Smith and Margaret MacEachern did the calling. Lunch was provided by Denice Newton.

A number of seniors have been enjoying the Hospital Auxiliary Pie Bingos that started Sept. 11 and run for six weeks. Different rural district or streets in town supply the pies and all proceeds go to the auxiliary that in turn helps the Maidstone hospital. Games start at 7 p.m. and a lot of parents being their children, who are really excited when they win a pie. It is held in the Legion Hall on main street.

Cards were played with a good turnout on Sept. 23. High for cribbage went to Jean Stewart and low went to Molly Den Ouden. Golf was also played. The winner was Joan Smith. Lunch was provided by Dorothy Schwartz.

Bingo was played Sept. 25 with a good turnout. Joan Smith and Margaret MacEachern did the catering. The loonie pot was divided between Norma Hougan and Dorothy Schwartz. Lunch was provided by Margaret MacEachern assisted by Dorothy Schwartz.

The weatherman has given the farmers a long spell of good weather. Cool at night, but no unwanted moisture. Yields are exceptionally high so some will run out of bin room.
