The Western Development Museum's 2013 Great Escapes Vacation Raffle is now complete and ticket sales for the 2014 raffle are well underway.

Proceeds from the 2013 raffle were earmarked for the repair and painting of the elevator, which was completed in the summer of 2013. This landmark is once again something the WDM and the Battlefords can be proud of, as it is one of the last elevators of its kind to be seen on the prairie landscape.

In the coming month the Western Development Museum is again hoping for the public's support as the 2014 Great Escapes Vacation Raffle is heating up for the first draw Jan. 2. The public is welcome to come to the Western Development Museum on draw to witness the drawing of the winning ticket. All draws in 2014 will be made on the first business day of the month at approximately 9 a.m. at the WDM in North Battleford.

Proceeds from next year's raffle will be used for the restoration and repair of Heritage Village buildings. With over 30 buildings to maintain and a short season in which to work on them, a priority list is made each year as to which ones need immediate repair. In 2014, it is the hoped the Anglican Church, the French house (Dr. Hamlin's former home) and the farm house will get repairs they desperately need.
