Rec board hosts fundraisers

The Neilburg Recreation Board held a Christmas tree draw with 15 winners of $15.

The Neilburg Recreation Board held a Christmas tree draw with 15 winners of $15. They were: Marilyn Ostensoe, Bill Drager, Carolyn Harris, Glen Hinch, Laurie Wakefield, Monica Wakefield, Darlene Bowes, Duncan MacEachern, Lyle Thom, Loralee Ryan, Kolby Kurtz, Pat Gibbons, Darwin Urlacher, Kailey Kurtz and Luc Bisson. The three lucky winners of $25 were: Krystyna Olchowecki, Tracy Zweifel, and Barrie Elchyson. Winning $50 was Robert Graham, Jr. The grand prize winner of $150 was Garth Hollingshead.

The recreation board also completed their trip of the month draws for 2010. Mitch Perkins of Turtleford won a trip to Las Vegas in November. Jason and Michele Oborowsky of Denholm won the $120 cash for November. The December trip, to Honolulu, Hawaii was won by Lori Ann Briton and Jackie Fizell of Lloydminster. Local, Daryl Goodfellow received the cash prize.

Congratulations to Kyle and Brooke Forbes on the birth of their first child, a son, Brandt Ronald, on Nov. 26. A baby shower was held, in his honour, at the Neilburg Seniors' Centre Jan. 16.

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Doreen Lamb. She passed away Dec. 4 in Lloydminster at the age of 85. Her funeral service was conducted from the Neilburg Community Hall Dec. 9 with Rev. Lorna Brick officiating. Doreen was born at Caythorpe, England and she was an English war bride, marrying Neil Lamb and having their first child overseas before relocating to Canada. The interment for Doreen was held at Lashburn Cemetery the following morning. Doreen is sadly missed by her children: Denise (Ron) Sawtell of Vanderhoof, B.C.; Angie (Brian) Gardiner of North Battleford; Carol (Jerry) Petovello of Baldwinton; Susan (Allan) Thomson of Saskatoon; Ian (Debbie) and Jim (Linda) - both of Neilburg; and Lisa (Dan) Polkinghorne of Watrous. Doreen also leaves 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives, to celebrate her life
