The senior boys' volleyball team have put another full season in the books for the 2013/14 school year. This year the team was made up of five Grade 12 students, two in Grade 11, a Grade 10 and one Grade 9. The boys have had a bit of a roller-coaster year with a few positive moments and a few moments of struggle.

Overall, the senior boys' team took part in four tournaments. They started with Maidstone Mega Volley where they played against some tough competition and lost out in the first round of playoffs. In the beginning of October, the boys then travelled to Lashburn to take on a few local teams and get some good competition in.

Next up for the boys was the Unity tournament. The boys finished third in this tournament, beating out Biggar and John Paul II Collegiate. The last tournament of the year was in St. Walburg. The boys had a very strong showing at the tournament, beating Goodsoil, St. Walburg and Turtleford.

After lots of competition, the boys were ready for the 2A regionals, which were held in Edam, Nov. 15 and 16. The first game of the tournament, the boys faced the number one ranked team - Edam - where they played strong but just came up short.

The second game of the day was against Lashburn. This game was a must-win for the boys in order to make the playoffs and give themselves a chance to make provincials. This game was a hard fought battle and the boys lost a tight rival game in three sets to end their season.

There were many disappointed faces, but overall the boys showed vast growth throughout the season and are proud of their accomplishments.

A big thank you to all parents who volunteered to drive and come out and support the senior boys' team this season. The players were Kody Smith, Quinton Ryan, Carl Cammidge, R. J. Milne, Coleman Tyler, Brandon Ironbow, Traydon Lane, Bailey Zwiefel and Ethan Moir.

The NCS Grade 10, 11 and 12 drama classes attended the Agatha Christie Murder Mystery at the Vic Juba Theatre in Lloydminster, Nov. 21.

The NSC senior band appreciates the wonderful donation of $700 from the Royal Canadian Legion to be used for the purchase of new speakers for the band program.

Congratulations to Travis Morgan, Braxton Snell, Jacob Biensch and Clayton and Colton Schmidt. These boys played for the Lloydminster Steelers football team. Their team played in the provincial championships this past weekend and defeated the Red Deer Hornets by a score of 46-6. Well done, boys!
