December has arrived and the elementary classes are very busy preparing for the Christmas concert. This year the concert will include a choir and a musical play.

The play revolves around a game show. Santa needs money and agrees to go on television to try and win a million dollars. He gets some help from Maymont School students. There will even be a visit from "Elvis."

The SLC will be selling school clothing at the concert. It will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7:15 p.m. in the school gym. Everyone is welcome.

Members of the Grades 7 and 8 practical applied arts class made chicken and pork souvlaki Friday. They served it with rice, vegetables and sweet and sour sauce. They sold it to staff and students.

On Monday, the Grade 9 class made pita chips, bean dip and roasted garlic, and accompanied it with guacamole and tomato salsa. It is nice to have some different, healthy choices for lunch. The students are learning some culinary skills as well.

Two of our kindergarten students have moved to Wilkie. MCS staff wish Jeremy and Ben Turgeon all the best in their new school. Their energetic faces will be missed around here.

Staff and students also send their best wishes to Nate Starycki, a kindergarten student who is in the hospital in Calgary. They are thinking of Nate and wishing him a speedy recovery.

MCS staff are always proud of their students and former students' accomplishments. Brooke Ferris, Grade 5, attended a hockey tournament in Regina on the weekend. They won all six of their games including the final game against Brandon. She proudly displayed her gold medal to her class. Brooke plays with the Tier 2 Saskatoon Comet Force.

Brodie Gray, Grade 4, attended a tournament in Red Deer on the weekend. They won two games and lost two games. He plays with the North Battleford Barons Tier 1 hockey team.

Congratulations to Caitlyn Gray, a graduate from last year, on winning the Western Canadian College Volleyball Championships on the weekend. Caitlyn plays with the SIAST volleyball team. Congratulations, Caitlyn.

Everyone at Maymont Central School was very glad to hear former colleague, Eleanor Voegeli, and her husband Ernie, were not seriously hurt in the large accident that occurred just outside of Maymont on the weekend.

Please be safe as December gets so busy!
