Scholarship available for post-secondary fine arts students

The Battlefords and District Community Foundation Inc. (BDCF) is now accepting applications for a scholarship from the Hazel Asmussen Fund. This award is given annually to a student who will be attending a post-secondary fine arts program.

The Battlefords and District Community Foundation Inc. (BDCF) is now accepting applications for a scholarship from the Hazel Asmussen Fund. This award is given annually to a student who will be attending a post-secondary fine arts program. Deadline for applications is April 30, 2012. This year's scholarship is $815.

The fund was established to honour Hazel Asmussen who was a lifelong artist with a great interest in bettering her community. She was a supporter of the arts and with the establishment of her named fund with BDCF, her wish to support the arts will continue forever.

Community foundations across Canada have been established to create endowments that will provide annual income to meet needs in the community. The Battlefords and District Community Foundation was created by and for local people. The foundation is based on endowment building, grant-making expertise and community leadership.
