Self defence course offered

North West Regional College is sponsoring a course Dec. 7 and 8 entitled "Effective Self Defence."

According to a press release, the course draws on techniques from tae kwon do, karate, kick boxing, mixed martial arts, yoga, tae bo, pilates, krav maga and the RCMP training program.

"It combines these techniques and creates a program designed to help women protect themselves and puts women back in charge," the release states.

The course is taught by a level 3 NCCP certified coach, a third Dan black belt with over 16 years of martial arts training in various martial arts and by the RCMP. Classes are designed for people of all skill levels and athletic ability.

The release states the classes are excellent for anyone ages 12 and up. The program is a great way to get in shape, have fun and build confidence.

The course will be offered at McKitrick School gym Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $72.50. To register contact the college.
