The weather is warming up and tulips are poking their heads out of the ground and people are starting to think about being outside in the yard. The library has lots of great materials that you can use to get your yard looking its best. Plus with access to books from across the province, you can find materials on pretty much any project you want to tackle.

Gardeners can find hundreds of books on everything from prairie perennials to natural pest defense strategies. Beginner gardeners can find many quick start guides to help with laying out the garden and general care tips. There are also more advanced gardening books such as companion planting guides and or even try growing some more unusual plants like grapes, kiwis, and peanuts. Short on space? Try one of our container gardening books and learn how even a balcony gives you enough space to grow your own vegetables and flowers.

We have a great collection of books on garden structures such as greenhouse construction, bean trellis ideas, deck design, landscaping and much, much, more. These are great both for finding ideas as well as filled with easy to follow instructions so anyone can "Do It Yourself."

If you go to tame that grass and find your lawnmower has broken, try our small engine repair database. Access is free with your library card and you can get repair information on many different makes and models.

Need more help? Several branches throughout the region are hosting library seminars. Contact your local branch for details or see our website at www.lakeland.lib.sk.ca.

Finally, once you've tamed that yard, enjoy a homemade frozen treat or a refreshing beverage using one of the great recipe books you can borrow at the library.
