The Borden library summer activity program for children aged 5 - 12 years started July 12 with Kandice Walker as the co-ordinator in charge of the program with teen helpers Graham Sargent and Nikita Pascoe. The first session was Thursday but the next five weeks will be Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the children bringing a bag lunch. The Lakeland Drama students will have a free puppet show July 18 at 2 p.m. in the community centre. There were 15 children the first week and since it was so hot outside they did indoor activities inside the community centre.

Condolences are extended to the family of Clive Wensley, who passed away July 14 at the age of 81, after a short but painful battle with cancer. The funeral service for Clive will be held Friday, July 20, 2 p.m. in the Borden Community Centre with Rev. Debbie Ramage of St. John's Anglican Church presiding. The seniors' club will be providing the lunch.

The Borden United Church is holding a barbecue July 25 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. by the Borden Fire Hall, serving burgers and hot dogs along with salads, dessert and beverages. Everyone is welcome and preschoolers are free.
