United Way Comedy Night marks campaign

After what has been a not-so-funny week, at times, in the Battlefords, Saturday night proved a welcome relief as the Battlefords United Way held their 10th annual Comedy Night at the Don Ross Centre.

After what has been a not-so-funny week, at times, in the Battlefords, Saturday night proved a welcome relief as the Battlefords United Way held their 10th annual Comedy Night at the Don Ross Centre.

The comedians featured on the night included warm-up act Steve Thomas of Belfast, Northern Ireland, as well as the headliner, Saskatoon-based Dez Reed.

During his performance Reed had a chance to show off his recently acquired shaven-head look, which he called the "in" look these days.

Reed had the audience in stitches as he delivered an irreverent and at times politically incorrect performance that was definitely for adults only. His comedic targets ranged from gun-toting Americans to British Columbians, SGI agents and Justin Trudeau.

Comedy Night is traditionally one of the main events to kick off the annual United Way drive in the Battlefords each fall, with a raffle and silent auction included as part of the event. Their overall fundraising goal this year in the Battlefords is $268,000.
