I think it is official. Several campers and fifth-wheel units have been going past our place and heading for the lake. I am not sure what they will be doing once they get there as the ice will still be there for another month.
Speaking of people travelling and more and more people being out and about, the area surrounding Rabbit Lake, and the northeast area in particular, seems to have peaked the interest of thieves. Over the last week several people have gone to their properties, albeit vacant properties, to find them vandalized and things missing. Obviously this is not something that we want to continue so if you see someone poking around suspiciously, report them to the local police. I guess that is a rural version of neighbourhood watch!
Congratulations go out to Don and Naomi Unger on the birth of their third grandchild and first grandson. Nathaniel Don Theissenunger was born to Vivian Unger and Jeffrey Theissen. Nathaniel is a brother to Mia.
The community sends its condolences to Ewald and Marian Miller, Gerry, Mark and families as well as to Sandra, Bob, and Gloria and their families on the passing of Elsie Fenner. Elsie was a sister to Ewald and mother to Sandra, Bob and Gloria. Oscar and Elsie Fenner ran the Rabbit Lake Hardware and Lumber for many years before retiring to Saskatoon. It has been many years since the Fenners lived in Rabbit Lake but they did return for special events and to enjoy time at Shady Bay Beach.
The Rabbit Lake Senior Sunrise Circle held its monthly potluck supper April 18 and had 27 people enjoy a great meal. After supper, Don and Jean Smith provided music for and instruction in old-time and pattern dancing. About 16 stayed to dance and a couple stayed to enjoy the music. A big thanks to Don and Jean for volunteering their time and a big thank you to Paul and Sharon Benson for planning and co-ordinating the evening. Hopefully entertaining evenings will continue with the suppers. Any ideas of items for entertainment are more than welcome.
