Last week most of the elementary bulletin boards were covered with turkeys and reasons to be thankful. We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and thought about all the reasons they are thankful and lucky to be living in Canada.
The senior boys' soccer team travelled to North Battleford for some exhibition games against Cando. They continue to improve their skills as they make a drive towards the provincial competition. They will be playing in North Battleford this weekend. The girls' team also played in North Battleford against Cando. They came out with a victory by winning the game 5-2.
The junior girls' volleyball team hosted Hafford Wednesday. They played five games against Hafford. The match was very close and the Maymont girls won three out of the five games.
Thursday morning Donny Parenteau's new song about bullying was played over the intercom. It is a powerful song that asks everyone to imagine a world without bullying. Several classes also showed a video that was made with the song. The students and staff were quiet as they listened. It would be nice if we could achieve that world without bullying.
The Student Leadership Council are having a guess the candy jar contest this week. Students can guess the amount of candy in a jar and the winner takes the jar home. They are also having a smokie and bun sale on Thursday, Oct. 24. Their final activity for October will be on Halloween Day. They are making a haunted house and are having a black and orange or costume dress-up day.
Our sympathies are extended to our colleague, Anita Prescesky, and her family. Her sister, Colleen Prescesky, passed away and our thoughts are with her and her family.
The school is having a breakfast on Tuesday, Oct. 22, beginning about 8:45 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. This is for Education Week and students will also take part in many special activities during the week.
Interim reports will be handed out to students on Friday. The school will be closed Monday, Oct. 28. All staff will be attending a professional development day.
Jean Brehon and Ryan Nickell have attended several training sessions on the new grading program called Teacher Logic. They have conductedseveral after-school sessions to train all the other teachers on this new program.
