Winter gradually introduced

Mother Nature has kindly been bringing winter to us gradually. We have now had about four snowfalls. The first melted and the second almost disappeared. Saturday night brought us a heavy fall of snow and it appears to be staying.

Mother Nature has kindly been bringing winter to us gradually. We have now had about four snowfalls. The first melted and the second almost disappeared. Saturday night brought us a heavy fall of snow and it appears to be staying. Temperatures have remained around 0 C and there has been minimal wind. However, that is forecast to change during the coming weekend. We just hope the roads don't become icy.

There are fewer winter birds around this fall. The mountain ash trees are loaded with berries. I have had one visit from a flock of Bohemian Waxwings. These beautiful birds must have a route for their travels. They make a few visits each winter until the berries are gone.

Several Forest Bank residents are making plans for their winter visits to warmer climes. Some of them go to continue their golf playing, others to enjoy the sun and others to travel. More about them later.

Laurie and Dan Kobes of Strathmore, Alta. were among the family members who visited with Florence Pike on the weekend.
