This year the focus at École Père Mercure is on teaching and practicing the 10 learner profiles from the IB (International Baccalaureate) Program.

This month the learner profile being developed with students and staff is "The Communicator." The teaching staff is concentrating on the development of student research modules and then piloting each module.

The school have been welcoming new families as well as returning students with open arms. Enrolment is now at 46 students from preschool to Grade 12.

The students were surprised to find new lockers lining the hallways as they arrived on their first day of school. They have a renewed sense of responsibility for doing their part to keep their school clean and organized.

The addition of the Childcare (CEPP - Centre éducatif les Petits Pingouins) is wonderful for the future of these little ones. They are given the opportunity to begin their French journey at an early age - from 18 months to three years of age. Parents who are interested in giving their children the gift of French are welcome to visit the childcare centre and its outdoor recreational park to see for themselves all its benefits.

The school will host it's third annual corn roast Friday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. École Père Mercure wishes a special welcome to students and parents from Lloydminster who will celebrate with them. RSVP with Jenny at 445-5238. Students and staff look forward to seeing you there for some Franco-Fun.

The Conseil des Écoles Fransaskoises (CÉF) is celebrating the opening of their 15th school in the province.

The newest school is located in Lloydminster and is the only Francophone school in that area.

École Fransaskoise de Lloydminster, has enrolled six students, from preschool to Grade 4.

The excited students quickly formed friendships as they settled in comfortably for the first lessons of their French Program.
