I use the word city lightly because it might sound kind of funny using that term seeing as how I’m from a small town.

In April, RBC branch manager Thomas Sullivan travelled to Saskatoon to compete in a public speaking competition. He placed first in a District E Evaluation Contest, competing on behalf of the local Battlefords Toastmasters Club.

Battleford Central School students and staff are excited about a new program in their school and community – the first ever Canstruction Build event in the Battlefords.

The Battlefords Dance Festival wrapped up at the Dekker Centre in North Battleford April 9 with awards and scholarships going to a number of local and area dancers.

Volunteers: Building Bridges in Our Communities was the theme of Prairie North Health Region’s Volunteer Appreciation Evening held Thursday last week where approximately 300 volunteers were honoured for their contribution to the health and well-being

Now that spring has arrived and the weather has improved, attendance at the North Battleford Action Now Senior Centre has also improved and it is good to see everyone enjoying the different activities.

In the Village of Borden election held April 15, the results were: for mayor, Tom Redhead – 96 votes and Tony Beaudry – 45; and, for councillor, Tony Martens – 79, Cody Bradshaw – 42 and Ferne Hebig – 20.
