13-year-old charged with assaulting two children has more court appearances

LA RONGE - A 13-year-old girl charged with aggravated assault against two children in a wooded area in La Ronge hasn’t entered a plea or election.

The young offender – who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act – has appeared in court five times since her arrest on June 2 and the matter was adjourned each time for plea and/or election. She last appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on Aug. 30. 

She was released on bail in June on 24-hour house arrest. She was ordered not be within five kilometres of La Ronge and not to possess any weapons.

The alleged assault occurred on May 29 near the 400 block of Bells Point Road in La Ronge and police say the incident wasn’t random.

The young offender is back in court in October to speak to the matter.
