A 14-year-old boy was in court Tuesday morning facing several charges after a truck was stolen from in front of a residence in North Battleford Monday at about 10 p.m.

RCMP say the vehicle had been left running and after it was reported stolen it was located by police a short time later on Territorial Drive.

The youth did not immediately stop when signaled to by police, and the driver subsequently ran a stop sign and a red light. At this point police withdrew from the pursuit, but the driver lost control while continuing westbound on Territorial Drive and hit the ditch.

The driver was then arrested and faces charges of theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police and several Traffic Safety Act offences.

Police say that during the search of the youth, other property believed to be linked to other thefts was located.
