RCMP members throughout the province are getting creative in their enforcement of speed limits in the Orange Zone.

Road construction is still in full swing and a recent blitz in the Langham, Delmas and Weyakwin areas Thursday saw 32 motorists ticketed for exceeding limits in construction zones.

And many of those were probably oblivious to the radar being trained on their vehicles because members usednon-traditional enforcement strategies that includedwearing construction clothing instead of regular RCMP patrol uniforms.

Speeds of offenders ranged up to 110 km/h in the 60 km/h zone. Other charges as a result of the enforcement action includeddriving with an unrestrained child and driving without due care. Fifteen written warnings were also handed out to motoristsin the orange zone and one vehicle was seized as part of the enforcement action.

"The majority of motorists were respecting thetraffic safety act when it comes to the Orange Zone," states Sgt. Ron MacRae of the RCMP North Central Traffic Service in a press release.

"For who that choose not to respect the laws in relation to the Orange Zone, you can expect enforcement actionthroughout theremaining construction season," he adds.

RCMP remind motorists to slow down in the Orange Zone so that construction workers stay safe.
