McLurg High School hosted a local science fair March 14.
This is an event that occurs every year in the school and is open to all students from Grade 7 to12. This year 49 projects with 87 participants were entered. Within those projects the ideas ranged from electricity, memory, magnets and speed.
The Grade 12 physics class did the judging. The criteria was based on Canada wide science fair evaluation forms.
The lucky advance to regionals in Macklin March 21, and from there they can advance to the Canada Wide Science Fair to be held in Lethbridge, Alta. May 11 to 19.
Senior (Grade 11 and 12) winner was Rachel Mamer for Turning Forward.
In the intermediate (Grade 9 and 10) category winners were: Rondi Kapiniak and Taylor Hoffman - Stackable Liquids; Cjardai Ulrich and Jaelynne Rohs - Surface Tension; Jada Woodrow and Alison Karstens - How Fast are You?; and Reid Laturnus and Brayden Johnson - Power For Your Dollar.
Junior (Grade 7 and 8) winners were: Jolene Gruber and Rachel Cey - Go Viral!; Jordan Rohs- Sink or Float; Jesse Rohs and David Halmaghi - Ring of Fire; and Jacob Mamer - Am I More Attractive - Hot?
