The announcement has been made of the finalists for the 2015 ABEX Awards to be presented on Oct. 24.
The event will be at TCU Place in Saskatoon, and the list includes one nominee from North Battleford.
Dutchak Holdings Ltd. has been nominated in the Community Involvement Award category. The company is involved in the ambulance and rescue service business and operates as WPD Ambulance.
A total of 89 nominations were submitted to the Sask Chamber from across the province. Of those 50 were chosen across 10 categories.
The other finalists include Airline Hotels of Saskatoon, Jay’s Transportation Group of Regina, KPMG LLP of Regina, P.A.R. Contracting Ltd. of Halbrite, Prince Albert Co-operative Association, Queen City Sports & Entertainment Group/The Regina Pats, Scotiabank of Saskatoon and Synergy Credit Union of Lloydminster.
In the Export Award category, finalists are Agrocorp International of Vancouver/Moose Jaw, CanMar Grain Products Ltd. of Regina, and TA Foods Ltd. of Yorkton.
Finalists in the Growth & Expansion Award include DevFacto Technologies of Regina, Envirotec Services Incorporated of Saskatoon, Innovative Heating & Cooling of Saskatoon, KDB Investments of Regina, McKenna Distribution of Regina, High Octane Welding Ltd/Meadow Lake Welding & Machine (of Meadow Lake, Pharmasave 406/Rubicon Pharmacies Canada Inc. of Swift Current and TA Foods Ltd. of Yorkton.
In the Innovation Award category finalists are 7Shifts of Regina, Bioriginal Food & Science Corp. of Saskatoon, Envirotec Services Incorporated of Saskatoon, QuickLinkt Solutions Inc. of Saskatoon and TA Foods Ltd. of Yorkton.
In Marketing, finalists are Minard’s Leisure World Ltd. of Weyburn and Humboldt’s Spotlight Sport & Corporate Wear Ltd.
The New Venture Award category finalists are: Black Bridge Brewery (Swift Current), Canadian Organic Spice & Herb Co. (Watson), PowerChief Scaffolding Inc. (Punnichy), QuickLinkt Solutions Inc. (Saskatoon), Rockford Engineering Works Ltd. (Regina), Saskatoon Institute for Medical Simulation (Saskatoon), W Bridals - Curvy Couture (Saskatoon) and Wood’s Body Goods (Aberdeen).
The Service Award category finalists are Airline Hotels (Saskatoon), Alliance Wellness and Rehabilitation (Moose Jaw), Grant Hall (Moose Jaw), Harold’s Family Foods (Prince Albert), KDB Investments (Regina), N.L. Construction Inc. (Yorkton), North Ridge Development Corporation (Saskatoon), Prairie Harley-Davidson (Regina) and Siemens Transportation Group Inc. (Saskatoon).
In the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award category finalists are: Scott Faulkner of Innovative Heating & Cooling (Saskatoon), Steve McKenna of McKenna Distribution, Luxury Granite and R&M Flooring (Regina), Kent East of High Octane Welding Ltd. & Meadow Lake Welding & Machine (Meadow Lake), Cole Thorpe of Prairie Proud Apparel Corp. (Saskatoon), Jill Morrison of Red Bicycle Communications (Lloydminster), Ryan Yedersberger of Stealth Interactive Media (Saskatoon), and Adam Tremblay of Tremblay Electric (Humboldt).
The newest award category is Priority Focus, with the award going to a business which has gone above and beyond in demonstration of business excellence in an area that mirrors a select Sask Chamber policy priority; the focus this year is on Youth Entrepreneurship. Finalists are Display Systems International Inc., K+S Potash Canada GP and North Ridge Development Corporation, all of Saskatoon.
Finally, in the Community Cornerstone Award category finalists are Bushwakker Brewing Company Ltd. of Regina, Econo Timber Mart of Prince Albert, Hopkins Dining Parlour of Moose Jaw, Midwest Furniture & Appliances of Lloydminster and Saskatoon Funeral Homes of Saskatoon.
Voting for the Community Cornerstone Award starts commence Sept. 24 at www.abexcornerstone.com. Voting takes place up to and including the ABEX evening Oct. 24; votes will be tallied and a winner announced during the ABEX ceremonies that night.
