AIR RONGE — Les Carlson has won $417,054.80 on LIGHTNING LOTTO.
The Air Ronge local took the instant win prize at a pit stop to Lake Country Co-op and said he was stunned when the win alert came thundering onto the screen.
“I was looking [at the display] and I thought, ‘Wow!’” he said. “The retailer was just shaking and the people in there were so happy for me!”
In true, small-town fashion, news travelled fast — even faster than Carlson expected when he got a call from his daughter while still in-store.
“I guess the people who were there let my daughter know,” he laughed. “She actually called me and asked what the commotion was about!”
The Air Ronge winner said he’s ready to enjoy the windfall.
“I want to pay off my boat and my mortgage, finish renovations on my house, and maybe take a trip to Manitoba!” he said.
Carlson won his prize instantly in-store with LIGHTNING LOTTO by matching all five numbers selected in the Aug. 3 LIGHTNING LOTTO draw.
